Evelyn Luella Burgess

She will be sadly missed by her daughters Diane Fortier (Russ) and Carrol Bell, grandchildren Tracy, Mike, Tom and Russ, and great-grandchildren Carly, Mandy, Aimee, Andrew, Patricia, Jeffrey and Stephanie. She is survived by her sister Catherine Nelson. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents Olga and John Carlson, husband John (Jack) Burgess, siblings Celia Swan and Andy Carlson, nephews Alan and Lyle, son-in-law Dennis Bell and great-granddaughter Sarah Wall.

Evelyn was born in Whitewater, MB where her family farmed. Her family also farmed in Warren, MB, where she met her husband Jack. They spent the majority of their married life in Winnipeg. Evelyn enjoyed many hobbies which included travelling, camping, bowling, playing cards, bingo, gambling, knitting, crocheting and especially spending time with family and friends. Evelyn belonged to the Victoria Ladies Bowling League for many years and was also a longstanding member of the Parkside Plaza Seniors Club.

Evelyn was a wonderful person to know. She had a soft manner and always put others before herself. Family loved her dearly and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Family would like to extend their thanks to the 3rd floor staff at Concordia Hospital for their care during mom's final days. In compliance with Evelyn's wishes, there will be no service. Interment with a private family gathering will take place at the Elmwood Cemetery in Winnipeg at a later date.
