Fe was born in Atimonan, Quezon on Aug 1, 1939 and she was the eldest of 5 children.
She is survived by her husband Ben of 56 years; son Federico (Christy Arevalo); daughter Claudia (Hugh O’Donnell); grandchildren Samantha, Amanda and Kristian Cahatol and William O’Donnell; sisters Delia Manalo, and Filomena Sarne; brothers Angelito and Primo Pauli Jr; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Fe met the love of her life at the age of 19, when Ben earnestly pursued her, beating out local and more affluent gentlemen. They married in 1962 and led a simple life in the Philippines. In 1975 they came to Canada with our family to pursue a better life. Fe worked as a seamer serger at Rice Sports Wear and later at Midwest Garment Factory. They fulfilled their dream of owning their own home and saw to it that the kids finished school with professional degrees.
Fe’s most endearing quality was her love of life. She loved dancing, gardening and even fishing. She was an active member of QPAM and was one of the founding members of the group. She was also a member of the St. Edward’s Friday night exercise group as well as the Filipino Seniors’ dance group.
She liked being involved in her kids activities and was often seen posing with them and their friends with the biggest smile on her face, long before selfies were even invented. She appreciated every little thing and kind gesture given to her. She was very easy to please and had a youthful personality. She was an amazing lady, who was the light of her family’s life. She will be greatly missed!
Thanks to the SICU staff at HSC and Dr. Claudine Lanthier who did all they could for Mom to make her final hours comfortable.
