

Felipe Florendo Gobenciong Jr. passed peacefully on April 2, 2023 with his wife Amparo, and sister, Olivia by his side. He was 86 years old.
Felipe was born December 7, 1936 in Tanauan, Leyte. He is the oldest son of Felipe and Eutropia Gobenciong. After completing a BSc in Commerce, Felipe worked in Maasin as a cashier at the Bureau of Public Highways. It is in Maasin where friends introduced him to Amparo Carbonilla at a party. They fell in love and were married on April 26, 1969. In May 1975 they moved to Canada. He started working as a Health Care Aide for the Winnipeg Municipal Hospital, now known as Riverview Health Centre, and he moved to the housekeeping department in the 80s. He worked in housekeeping until he retired in 1998.
He was an active member of the Knights of Rizal, Knights of Columbus, Bisaman and a regular mall walker at St. Vital Centre. He liked fishing for the big catch, and he could often be seen on a date with Amparo at the Club Regent Casino. He always made time for family and was keen to bring people to his favourite date spot.
Left to cherish his memory are siblings Gory, Pedring (Edith), Olivia (Milton), Herminia (Dave), Ale, Pat (Erlinda), Annie (Ceasar) and his in-laws Dely, Alma, Virgilio (Avelina), Lilia and Teresita (Jose). He will also be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Gina (Jimmy), Rene (Jane), Grace (Bong), Roel (Christie), Rowena, Ray, Rizza, Joey (Purita), Jin (Trini), Liezl (Joy), Irene (Jim), John (Nadeen), Christie, Jun (Tiane), Chinky, Hamlet (Anna), Francelou (Faye), Chamille, Kathy (Ray), Cristene (Allen), Mike (Chantelle), Hazel (Mark), Charmaine, Daryl (Ming), Jayson, Sandy (Leah), Vira (Christine), Gwynn (Nica), Leanne (William), Jonar and his many apos/grandchildren. He is predeceased by his siblings: Vicente, Raida, Ben and Delfin, in-laws: Neil, Galdino and Dodong and nephews: Eric and Randy.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 10:15am at Our Lady of Victory with reception and interment to follow at Thomson “In the Park”. Those who wish to join virtually can select "join livestream" below.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their love and support through this difficult time and would like to extend a special thanks to the palliative care nurses from Home Care and Riverview Health Centre.
