Filomena Magaling Macaraeg

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Filomena Macaraeg on December 31, 2025 at the age of 78 years.

She will be sadly missed by her son Jhenner, brothers Rafael Pagtalunan, Flotarco Jr. Pagtalunan, Jacinto Pagtalunan, Romeo Pagtalunan, Gilbert Pagtalunan and her sister Luchie Pagtalunan Sevcik.

Filomena was predeceased by her husband Eligio Macaraeg, brother Eduardo Pagtalunan, father Flotarco Pagtalunan and mother Concordia Pagtalunan.

Filomena arrived in Canada in 1972 with many of her fellow friends from her Holland Gendrigen group 2 and started working for Mid-West Garments as a sewing machine operator. After many years she decided to go back to school and not only graduated from there, she stayed and also served as an instructor at the Academy of Learning and later served then retired from the Winnipeg School Division No. 1. A Lamay will be held on Tuesday, January 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Thomson “In the Park,” 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. The Funeral Service will follow on Wednesday, January 14 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Parish, 836 Arlington Street.
