It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Florence Dufault on November 1st, 2017 at the age of 57. With family by her side, Florence left us peacefully after a long and brave fight with dementia.
Florence leaves to mourn her husband Alfred; daughter Claudette (Mike) Reid; and her two sons Rheal and Denis (Alison); along with her two beautiful grandchildren Jazmin and Oliver. She also leaves behind her five sisters Doris (Claude) Poiron, Evelyne (Gerald) Gauvin, Jeanne (Jean) Poiron, Blanche (Guy) Deleurme and Bertha (Claude) Nadeau; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews.
Florence was born in Swan lake, Manitoba on January 26, 1960. She is predeceased by her parents Maurice and Irene Routhier (nee Rondeau). Florence grew up in St. Leon, Manitoba until she was a young adult and moved to Notre Dame De Lourdes. In 1990, Florence, Alfred and their three children moved to La Salle, Manitoba. Florence worked at Tache Nursing Center for many years as a Health Care Aid. Her compassion and understanding for the people she worked with was clearly visible in the way she cared for them day after day with energy, devotion and kindness.
Florence was a mother with a heart of gold. She would give everything for her children’s happiness and worked very hard to assure they were both loved and cared for. Florence was a wonderful, caring and loving mother, sister, daughter, wife and friend. She loved to make everyone feel welcomed and this could be felt by all who had the chance to spend time with her. Florence loved to cook and bake. There was always an extra spot at her dining room table to join in on her fabulous feasts.
In addition to raising her three children, she enjoyed playing cards, dancing, gardening, watching curling and/or hockey at the rink and socializing with anyone who crossed her path. Florence had a love for cats especially her own TiTi and Miss Puts, listening to music, especially Christmas music.
Florence will be remembered for her bright smile, gentleness, kindness, optimism, outgoing personality and the ability to make others laugh and feel supported.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to staff at Action Marguerite St. Vital for the excellent care given to Florence. For those who desire, donations may be made in Florence’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
Eulogy followed by a mass will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 1:00pm at the Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald Street.
