Frieda passed away peacefully on January 7, 2019 at 92 years of age. Frieda was born on August 23, 1926 in Rosenfeld, Ukraine, to parents William and Lydia Kreis (nee Ehrmann).
She married Wilhelm Rothenberger on October 24, 1947. They were married for 39 years. Frieda and Willi immigrated to Canada on October 3, 1949. Frieda worked in a sewing factory when she first came to Canada. Frieda and Willi loved the outdoors, camping and fishing. In 1968 they purchased a cabin at Jessica Lake for themselves and family which was happily enjoyed by all for 40 years.
Frieda loved picking blueberries and her precious pfefferling (chantrelle mushrooms). Frieda did a lot of cooking and baking, two favourites were her Mocha Tortes and her Plum cake. Frieda enjoyed working on puzzles and playing Dominoes and Rummykub. She also enjoyed a cup of strong coffee that only she could make the right way. Frieda and Willi went on many trips, their favourite place to visit was Honolulu, Hawaii. Frieda had many friends and she cherished all of them. They were her lifeline.
Left to cherish her memory are sister-in-law, Frieda Kreis, niece and husband, Irmgard and Kelwyn Eklund and family, nephew and wife Peter and Wanda Kreis and family, many cousins and friends.
Frieda was predeceased by husband Willi in 1987, her parents in 1968 and 1982 and brother, Arthur in 2009.
Funeral services will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow.
