IN THE CARE OF

Thomson In The Park Funeral Home and Cemetery

Remembered With Love

It is with profound sadness that the family of Gerald Mazur announces his passing on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Riverview Health Centre, at the age of 80. Gerry battled both cancer and Parkinson’s with unwavering courage and determination for over twenty years and we are grateful for the time we had because you fought so hard to stay with us.

Gerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Margaret (Marcy), children Tim, Heather (Scott) and Robert, his grandchildren Brittany, Tim, Zacharie and Spencer, and his great grandchildren Alexxis and Riley. Gerry will also be remembered and missed by extended family and friends.

Gerry was predeceased by his father Peter, mother Anastacia (Nel) and brother Robert (Bob) Mazur.

Gerry excelled at hockey from a young age and played professionally from 1966 – 1973. He received many honors ranging from Rookie of the Year to Most Valuable Player. It was during his time playing hockey in Dayton, Ohio, that he met and married Marcy and started a family; eventually settling back in his hometown of Winnipeg. When his hockey career ended, he pursued his other passion of working in the aviation industry and enjoyed many years working at Air Canada, where he was again recognized for excellence in his field. Gerry was a person who put his full heart into whatever he did, whether it was work, athletics or other hobbies. But our family will remember him most for being there for us. He made every family gathering memorable because of his epic storytelling, sense of humor and big smile. We will never tell his stories as well as he did, but we will remember them all because they tell the story of his beloved parents’ lives, his life and our lives and we will be forever grateful for the rich history he shared, almost always in a way that made us smile or laugh out loud.

Many thanks to all of the staff and volunteers at Riverview who looked after Gerry with kindness, humor and compassion. A private family gathering will be held to celebrate Gerry’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Parkinson’s Canada or CancerCare Manitoba.
