Gloria Huckles
March 17, 1924 - January 18, 2022
With sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gloria Huckles in the early evening hours of January 18, 2022 at Riverview Health Centre. Gloria was a devoted daughter and was predeceased by her mother Mary and father Nicholas Huckles. Gloria inherited her musical talent and love of the arts from her father, a violinist with the WSO and her mother, an actress. She parlayed her passion for the entertainment industry into a career with Celebrity Concerts and then later transitioned to become an executive assistant at the CEDF with the Provincial Government. Gloria had many passions; she loved music, the theatre, classic movies, and biographies of her favourite entertainers. She was a Life Long, True Blue, Winnipeg Blue Bombers fan and was so excited to be able to see a second consecutive Grey Cup win. Always a progressive thinker, she read the Winnipeg Free Press daily and watched CNN nightly to stay current with the news. Throughout her life and career, she made countless friends, many of whom became part of her chosen family. She will always be lovingly remembered as a spirited, strong willed and independent career woman who enjoyed a good laugh and a strong martini. Although she found it difficult to become dependent on others in her last few years, Gloria was truly grateful for the help she received from the 3W staff at Riverview Health Centre. On her behalf, Marnie and Lynne extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to each and every one of you. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Winnipeg Humane Society where Gloria, a passionate advocate for animals, volunteered many hours. Celebration of life will be held on Saturday January 29, 2022 @ 2:00pm. Thomson Funeral Home 669 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB. R3C 0X4 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsonfuneralcapel.com
