Gregory "Greg" Kenneth Hanchuk

Suddenly at Grace Hospital, Extended Care Unit on February 5, 2013, Greg Hanchuk passed away at the age of 49 years. Greg was predeceased by his Mother Angeline Harvich, and his sister Wendy Laura Hanchuk and his aunt Elizabeth Seguin.

He will be lovingly remembered by his father Steve Hanchuk (Jerrie), his brother Michael Hanchuk (Susanne), his sister Theresa Hanchuk, his nephew Levi Stevens, his uncle John Hanchuk (Helen), his uncle Bob Harvich (Yvonne), his aunt Leona Harvich and many cousins.

Greg attended Beaumont Primary School, Westdale Junior High School and Oak Park High Schools in Charleswood. During his summer breaks Greg was employed as a shipper with the Manitoba Telephone System at their Ellice Ave. location and his co-workers may remember him by nickname “Shuffles”.

Greg displayed the symptoms of Schizophrenia in his early teen years and coped with this debilitating illness for most of his adult life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society Inc, 100-4 Fort Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Klassen Funeral Home.

A special thanks to all the staff at the Extended Care Unit of the Grace Hospital and to Bonnie Singleton who has been so helpful in dealing with many of Greg’s issues over the years.
