Hilda was born and raised in Poland on March 15, 1931 and then moved to Germany. She came to Canada on her own at the age of 20 and lived in Beausejour for a while, eventually finding work as a housekeeper for a prominent family in Winnipeg.
She was a very independent, diligent, loving, hardworking woman who took pride in her home, gardening and time spent with family and friends. She loved spoiling her children and friends with baking and goodies. She also enjoyed putting on a new dress and dancing at the German or Polish Hall most weekends.
A service will be held on Friday, March 24 at 11:00 am at the Luthern Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington Avenue, Winnipeg. Burial will take place at the St. Vital Cemetery, 236 River Road, Winnipeg.
The family would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre, Area 7 – with special thank-you to Jody for all her kindness and love she had shown Hilda over the years.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Hilda’s memory can be made to the CMHA (http://mbwpg.cmha.ca/)
