Remembered With Love

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jacob, following a brief illness, with his family by his side on April 1, 2024.

He was predeceased by his daughter Karen and his mother Katharina.

He is survived by his wife Nellie (married 70 years) and His son Gerald (Denise) Epp.

Jake was born in 1928 in Dniepro, Ukraine. During the Second World War he spent four years in a Russian prison camp before coming to Canada in 1949. Jake lived in Leamington, Ontario for a year and then moved to Winnipeg. In Winnipeg he met Nellie Penner, and on April 25, 1954 they were married in the First Mennonite Church on Notre Dame Avenue. Jake worked as the assistant director of the University of Manitoba computer center for many years and enjoyed retirement in their Winnipeg home.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Partners for Home Care and the WHRA Palliative Care Team.
