

Following a lengthy illness, it is with sadness that we announce the passing of James Carney Aitken on October 13, 2024 at the age of 87.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by Karen, his wife of 44 years, his only son Matthew of Vancouver, daughters Elisabeth (Dave) Neasmith of Ottawa, grandchildren Caroline and Daniel, Dr. Elinor (Tom) Sloan of Ottawa, and grandchildren Thomas and William, nephew Larry (Martina) of Kelowna, great-nephew Jason (Lauren) Piccinin of Toronto, and nephew Kenny Piccinin of Thunder Bay, and many other family and friends.
Jim was predeceased by his sister Elaine Piccinin (July 10, 2024).
Jim was an Engineering graduate from Queen’s University and started his life-long career in Mechanical Engineering. He was sole owner of Matrix Engineering Services, was an avid Pilot and Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. He loved his time at St. Andrews airport where he had his hanger and kept his beloved “Bonanza”. Jim and Karen loved to travel, and over the years did so at every chance.
Cremation has taken place, and a “Celebration of Life” will be announced at a later date.
