JAMES (JIM) BARRETT HASLAM 1926 - 2012 Peacefully after a lengthy illness, our Dad and Grandfather passed away at the Victoria Hospital on Saturday, February 11, 2012. Saddened by his passing are this three daughters, Peggy Haslam, Dawn (Denis) Courteau, Diane (Norm) Lambert, grandchildren Patrick (fiancee Jaime Malanchuk), Lauren and Lyndsay Lambert and Kenneth Courteau. Dad was predeceased by his wife and our mom Norma (2001), infant son Ross (1955), his parents Walter and Kathleen, siblings Merva and Bill. Dad's early years were spent in Fort Garry. After moving to Winnipeg, he met our Mom while delivering newspapers. They were married in September 1950 and celebrated 50 years together, residing in St. Vital. Dad worked for 40 years at C.I.L. Paints, as well as many years part-time with Metropol Security and Winnipeg Enterprises at the Winnipeg Arena and Stadium. Dad loved any sports but especially the Bombers and Jets. Many special summers were spent at the family cabin at Grand Beach. Dad was a Mason and volunteered his time driving cancer patients while dealing with his own illness. The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. I. Maxwell and his caring Oncology staff at the Victoria Hospital for their professionalism shown towards our parents over the past 23 years. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 18 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Road United Church, 613 St. Mary's Road. Private family interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society Manitoba Division would be appreciated.
