Jasbir Singh Maan

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jasbir Singh Maan, a beloved individual who touched the lives of many. Jasbir, age 80, left this world on June 20th, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.

Jasbir was born on October 9th, 1942 in Chadik, Punjab, India, to Bishan Singh Maan and Harbans Kaur Maan, and was the eldest of five siblings including the late Balbir (Pritam), Balwinder (Charnjit), Sukhdev (Jaswinder) and Amarajit (Maria). In 1992, Jasbir embarked on a new chapter in his life when he immigrated to Canada with his wife and children.

Jasbir was a remarkable person who took care of his family. Throughout his life, he exemplified qualities of resilience, determination, and unwavering dedication. He completed a Bachelor of Arts from Punjab University, Chandigarh, and a Masters of Arts in Punjab University, Patiala, where he went on to become a Medical Officer at Rohtak, then Chief Medical Officer at PGI in Chandigarh, and finished his career at Ropar Hospital for the Punjab Health Department as Senior Superintendent. His hard-working nature was an inspiration to all.

He leaves behind a rich legacy that will be cherished by his wife of 58 years, Harjit; his children, Charanjit (Paramjot), Manjit (Charandip), Harinder (Sukhjit), and Sarbjit (Jaswinder); his loving grandchildren, Simondeep, Yashpreet, Ramanpreet, Sunkiran, Arvind, Amrit, Neha, Kiran, Nimrit, Simer, and Nehal, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members and friends who will forever carry on his memory in their hearts.

His laughter, stories, and generous spirit will be sorely missed.

Jasbir’s family would like to thank the Home Care Attendants and Nurses from the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority as well as the Diamond Personal Services (Private Care Agency) for their support over many years.

A Akhand Path service will begin on June 22, 2023 at the Gurdwara Singh Sabha, 4000 Sturgeon Rd.

The funeral will be taking place on Saturday, June 24th, 2023 at 10:00am at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. To view the service online, click the Join Livestream button below.
