1920 - 2011
It is with deep sadness, lightened by wonderful memories, that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Jeanne Elaine Stephen on February 25, 2011.
Mom was the ultimate homemaker and caregiver, and will be lovingly remembered by her children and their families, Bob (wife Lynn and Mom’s grandchildren William (wife Veronique, and Mom’s great grandchildren, Arielle and Clara) and David (wife Andrea, and Mom’s great grandchildren Samantha, Cynthia, Meghan and Mathew), Bettie Wizbicki (husband David and Mom’s grandchildren Ryan (wife Toni) and Keri (Elwood) and Barbara.
Mom was predeceased by her husband and best friend, Arthur John Stephen; mother, Florence Hayes; in-laws, Jean and John Stephen; daughter-in-law, Wendy Stephen; and many relatives and close friends. She will be missed by all, including Dad’s brothers, Bill and Bruce Stephen; many nieces and nephews; her longtime friend, Anne Swardfager; cousin Myrtle Nicholson; her bridge club friends; and many of our friends who she became close to.
Mom was fortunate to have led a long and happy life, enjoying spending time with her family at home, at the family cottage at Winnipeg Beach and during adventures on our numerous family trips and summer vacations. She loved entertaining and cooking for her friends and relatives and, along with Dad, hosted many fun parties and get-togethers.
Mom’s last few years were spent at Bethania Personal Care Home. The family would like to recognize the special skills demonstrated by the nursing staff, care workers and support staff, and Ernie, the musical therapist who always brightened Mom’s days. Thank you for taking care of our Mom.
We will miss you Mom and our lives will forever be influenced by the lessons and values you and Dad lovingly taught us throughout your lives.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you take a moment to recall a special memory and to toast the wonderful life Mom led.
Arrangements under the direction of Thomson "In the Park", Winnipeg, MB.
