Jerry Anthony Minarz
March 2, 1945 – August 5, 2019
You may not be with us anymore, But our love for you will never die. We miss you, Dad.
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our Dad, Papa, and Brother, Jerry Minarz with his loving family and close friend by his side at the age of 74 on August 5th, 2019 at Grace Hospital. This was after a long courageous battle with Cancer. He will be lovingly remembered by sons Kevin (Kassy), Darren, grandsons Tyler (Tracy), Garett (Kristen) his sister Carol (Bob) and special friend Clare Sanheim, as well as many other relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his loving wife Nancy; parents Elizabeth and Anthony; David.
Dad was born in 1945 at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. He was the first of 3 children in the Minarz family. He grew up in Dauphin, Manitoba where he made many friends and lasting memories. Dad moved to Winnipeg shortly after his high school graduation to pursue career opportunities where he made many friends and started a long career as a Pharmaceutical Rep. He was very well connected through all his business ties and he always knew a “guy”. Shortly after moving to Winnipeg, he met the love of his life, Nancy. They soon married and were blessed with 2 sons, Kevin and Darren. After several years he decided he wanted to give his family the “farm” experience and so they moved to a hobby farm outside of Beausejour. This presented many challenges and adjustments for the family especially his wife Nancy who was kind enough to indulge him in this endeavor. Dad made sure his boys could experience true county life and made sure dirt bikes, chickens, horses, dogs, cats and even sheep with some wheat farming was involved. After 7 years of the “funny farm” experience, Dad moved the family back to Winnipeg. Shortly after they wanted a place for their family to gather and spend quality time together so Dad and Mom purchased a cabin in Spruce Sands, north of Gimli where they made great memories with their family and friends. Dad was very supportive in his son’s hockey and was involved in coaching and managing their teams. We will always remember his sound advice on the drive home from practice or games and the chalkboard sessions that often ended in laughs. He took pride in being a very involved father and later Papa, to his 2 grandsons Tyler and Garett who he cherished. Dad loved his family and thought the world of his wife, sons and grandsons. Dad has touched many lives and his memories will be cherished by all.
We would like to thank the caring staff at Cancer Care Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry’s memory may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba.

As our parents were friends, I had the pleasure of knowing Jerry as a life-long friend for 65 plus years. My late husband and I enjoyed visiting with Jerry, Nancy and boys at their Beausejour farm.

Remembering Jerry puts a smile on my face and here’s why...
Our Saskatchewan Roughriders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers rivalry.
His quick wit, gentleness, patience, caring, fun loving, and teasing mannerisms will leave a lasting memory in my heart.
For Jer was my ‘honey’ and I was his. Oh we had fun!! Especially to the point where my loving sister Clare would say, “Alright that’s enough you two” and we’d all laugh..
Caregivers each in their own way. Jerry earlier on and Clare throughout his battles with cancer and by his side the last couple weeks of his life.
You were loved and cared for by so many, many people Jer.
Our big extended family — mostly from Saskatchewan, will miss you always..

I was the Sales Manager at Wampole for about 7 years ("94 - 2000) and had the pleasure of knowing Jerry during this time. He was a dedicated employee, had great relationships throughout his territory and really looked out for his customers and the company. I recall his love of hockey. He took me to one Moose game and we shared an evening with Maurice Richard which he really enjoyed. I will remember his hearty and genuine laugh and his support and guidance which made my job easier. My recollection of Jerry will be as a really great all around man.
My deepest sympathies to the family .

I am honored to be considered as one of Jerry's long term friends. Our friendship goes back 60 years to our High School days when we first met. We spent many hours together, stood up at each others weddings and have remained friends throughout life. We were able to meet up for coffee on Jerry's final visit to Dauphin and reminisced about the fond memories we shared. Jerry was a wonderful man and dear friend. He will be dearly missed. Rest well Jerry.

It is with a sad heart I write this message. Jerry and I worked together at Wampole and really connected right away. Jerry always told me he was a pretty good golfer so I got to have a game with him and I asked him after our game where he learned to play and I guessed it had to be a par 3. We got together at our company meeting and I have to say that he always spoke of his family in a very wonderful way. I got to meet the family at a Earl/s Restaurant on one of my visits and you could feel the love the family had for each other.
Thank you for all the laughs and caring we have for each other and the numerous phone calls where we shared our thoughts .with each outer

We are so sorry to hear of Jerry’s passing and to know that he endured so much pain and suffering in his latter days.
My memories of Jerry are from our Wampole years together. I spent time in the trade with him in Manitoba. He was well respected by our customers, his colleagues and by all who knew him. He definitely delivered solid results! Along the way we had a lot of good laughs too!
Our most sincere condolences to Kevin, Darren and all of the family............... Wayne & Pauline Angman
