Mom met Dad at the Royal Alexandra Hotel in Winnipeg. She was an elevator operator, he was a bell hop. Sparks flew. They were married September 12, 1953. They raised three children in Brooklands, MB., David, Debra and Lorraine.
Mom was predeceased by Gordon, March 3, 1989. And by Donald Barnett, February 14, 2016.

In the early days, Mom worked at Woolworths, then Woolco, then Walmart. Mom and Dad enjoyed many day trips to Grand Forks, usually just for lunch. Sometimes they would take a grandkid with them, to have a 'cheese sandwich', sometimes they would go by themselves. Mom retired from Walmart in 1996.
Mom re-married Don Barnett in 2002 and relocated to Camp Morton, MB. Many days were
spent watching her hummingbirds and other creatures that wandered into the yard! Many
evenings were spent around the backyard bonfire....yes, even in the winter!...laughing and
sharing stories with family and friends. These were very happy times for Mom. Many years
later, Mom and Don moved back to Winnipeg. Mom lost Don in 2016. At Mom's new home on Oakland Ave, she met many new friends and enjoyed Social Club activities, like bingo! A special thank you to Joan.
Mom enjoyed many casino outings, sometimes coming home with more in her purse than she
arrived with! That would be a good evening! She also enjoyed lunchtime visits with her great-grandkids, always making sure she had enough cheese strings and soda. Mom was very proud of her family. The proof of this is the plethora of photos left for us to have.
Mom struggled with health issues in her later years, and went to be with Dad on Jan 2, 2021.
She was a tough cookie, lived a long life and saw many great things. You have earned your peace Mama. Rest easy. xox
