It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of John Boux, age 68, on Thursday, Sept 5, 2019. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 33 years, Jan Boux (Stech). John was predeceased by his father, John William Boux in 1965 and his mother Anna Boux in 2016.
John (Jean) was born in Winnipeg at the St Boniface hospital on December 24, 1950. He is the first born of 6 children to John and Anna Boux. His father was co-founder of Supercrete. The family lived in St Boniface and John attended Provencher elementary school and Louis Riel Collegiate. After graduation, he took an automotive repair course at Red River College and subsequently worked at GNR, Transcona Trailer Sales, and Transcona Dodge. During this time, John also continued his education taking the Computer Programming & Systems Analysis certificate program at Red River College, Bachelor of Science Program, Bachelor of Recreation Studies, and worked toward his Masters of Natural Resource Management at the University of Manitoba. He changed careers from automotive technician to computer software design and development for the Province of Manitoba, Department of Natural Resources, and later the Department of Conservation, until his retirement in 2017.
John and Jan met in 1985 and married on July 12, 1986. They were each other’s best friend and soul mate. While they did not socialize much outside the family, they always enjoyed intimate family gatherings. In later years, they were a constant support to one another. They were tightly bound and John will be missed immensely by Jan and all his family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy #1, East at Navin Road. Interment to take place at Green Acres Cemetery following the reception.
