1919 - 2012
After a long, full and healthy life, we sadly announce the peaceful passing of Jack on July 28, 2012. Jack is survived by his loving wife, June, of 62 years and his children Ken (Andrea), Brian (Helene) and Karen Egan (Martin), along with his grandchildren Jordan and Christopher Woodward, Chelsea Woodward and Glennys Egan.
Jack was a proud veteran of WWII who saw action with the Perth Regiment in both Italy and Holland. One of Jack's fondest memories was his return to Holland for the 60th Liberation Ceremonies.
Jack's career was a rewarding one! Jack held numerous positions with the City of Winnipeg. He gave 42 years of dedicated service and relished every one of them.
Jack was most fortunate to be blessed with 30 years of a happy retirement. He was an avid sports fan, and particularly enjoyed his curling years and his time spent as time-keeper for the Blue Bombers. He loved the comradeship of his by-weekly Men's Luncheon group. Jack had a knack for being a great organizer of many social functions. In the past, Jack served as Past Master of his Masonic Lodge.
He was a feisty personality on one hand, but a pussy cat on the other! Jack was a well-respected man, both generous and kind. Jack was a real family man. He was most content when surrounded by family and friends alike. He was much loved, steadfast in our lives, and will be sorely missed by all.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Jack's life was held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy.
