

With sadness in our hearts, we announce that our dad, Jose Ngantian, passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on December 19, 2021, surrounded by family and his children.
Joe, as he is fondly called, was predeceased by his parents Jose Sr. and Antonia Ngan Tian, and his first wife, Juanita Vergara Ngantian. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Dionisia Neal and Fe Ngantian, as well has his brothers in law, Frank Neal and Dr. Romeo Hizon.
He is survived by his children, Jamie, Jocelyn, Jordan (Vanessa), and Grace Ngantian. He is also survived by his siblings, Erlinda Ngantian Hizon, Manolo (Myrna) Ngantian, Eduardo (Teresita) Ngan Tian, Josephine (Ariel) Mojica, Eugenio (Rosario) Ngantian, and August (Eleanor) Ngantian. Also surviving him are his numerous nieces and nephews and their children, as well as Mary Ngantian, the mother of Jordan and Grace.
Joe was born in Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines on December 6, 1950 and spent his life there with his siblings. He was a mechanical engineering graduate from the University of the East in Manila, Philippines. He held various jobs in Manila until he was sponsored by his sister to immigrate to Canada. He moved to Toronto in 1972 and made Winnipeg his permanent residence in 1977.
Joe worked for Manitoba Hydro (formerly Winnipeg Hydro) for 33 years. He worked as a meter servicer, as well as a line locator and retired in 2010. Shortly after his retirement, he took a job as a caretaker for Ivan Franco Manor.
Special thanks to the ICU staff and doctors at St. Boniface Hospital for their care in dad’s final days.
Cremation has already taken place, and the family will be holding a private celebration of Joe’s life at Thomson in the Park. The service will be officiated by close family friend, Pastor Wil Garcia. Following the service, Joe’s ashes will be moved to the Rose Cottage Chapel, his final resting place.
