Krishan Lal Sadana passed away on December 17, 2020, at the age of 90. Born and raised in India as the eldest of eight siblings, he deeply supported and encouraged his family’s wellbeing throughout his life.
A lifelong scholar and entrepreneur, Krishan’s career began in India, where he established a successful chemical manufacturing business. He earned master’s degrees in the United Kingdom and India, and a Doctorate in Biochemistry from the University of Manitoba, where he spent more than 40 years teaching chemistry and mentoring students in the Access Program. He continued to participate in the scientific community after his retirement, and founded UniScience Laboratories, a scientific equipment distributor.
Krishan cultivated a broad circle of friends, young and old. His family would like to express its deep gratitude to them and to his colleagues for their support.
Krishan is mourned by his brothers Ram and Nand, his sisters Janak, Santosh, and Sheila, and numerous nephews and nieces, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ravi, and by his daughters Anu and Vanita, sons-in-law Andrew and Jeff, and his beloved grandson Reilly.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Krishan’s name to local food banks, refugee and immigrant support groups, or Winnipeg’s St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, in gratitude for the excellent care given to Krishan by the hospital’s nurses, doctors, and staff.
