I'm so saddened and shocked to hear about this. I played a bunch of music with Kyla back in the day, both in church and and at different events in the province. Though we hadn't connected in person for many years, I was thrilled to see where her musical journey had taken her. 
My sincere condolences to the family.

Kyla and I have been friends since high school. We have shared our greatest and hardest moments with each other, talked about our dreams, our kids.... everything. We've shared the same weird sense of humour. I learned so much about art and music from Kyla. There is no one like Kyla. I am going to miss her deeply. Her love and passion lives on through her beautiful children. Love you and miss you forever, Kyla.

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Kyla as a student in one of my classes at the university. She was a unique talent and creative force at the music faculty. She was not afraid of reaching over into disciplines that was not her main study, including my composition class. I knew her as warm hearted and honest, and she must have been a fantastic mother to you.

A great loss. Ky opened my world to opera and art. I loved laughing with her about the dumbest things. She made me get out of my comfort zone and was always willing to try new things. I'm so sorry she had to leave so soon. We will see her again. Sending hugs and prayers to you guys.

My sincere condolences . Kiddos, your mom was truly a special human. Loving, funny as heck, with a talent in so many areas, very brave, with faith and with big dreams. As an adults that is rare, to reinvent and continue following your dreams. I will remember Kyla as a brave woman, not only for the health journey she was on but for entering University and pursuing her dreams.  She took every opportunity to grow and learn within herself and from others.  Last I had heard about her, she was presenting on her funding project.  She was passionate.  I will always remember her first studio masterclass - she was clearly in a different level from the rest of the young singers.  What impressed me was how much she grew as a singer.  She was a sponge and wanted to grow.  I pray for her family that they will find ways to honour her memory in their own way by continually learning and growing.

Kyla your voice will resonate through the halls just as they haunt my memory of your God given talent. May you rest easy and may your loved ones hear the echo of your voice for generations to come 🙌🏼 Nothing but fond and inspirational thoughts when I think of you

Oh Kyla, I remember our time in Watertown NY singing together on the worship team with Jason.  You always made the most beautiful melodic choices and you made us all sound so much better.  You were an amazing musician and special lady. You will be sorely missed.
