After an 18 month fight with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), Larry Randal Partap passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at 11:07pm.
Larry was born May 2, 1948 in Fyzabad, Trinidad into humble beginnings. He was the 4th or 5 children. He was a sportsman who enjoyed soccer and cricket in his younger days. After immigrating to Winnipeg in 1970, he met his wife, played for the University of Manitoba soccer team and graduated with his masters in climatology. He finished his career as the Chair of the Creative Arts department at RRC. Larry had a passion for the students, especially those who faced challenges or needed uplifting- that was his soft spot.
Larry became an avid golfer. He developed many long lasting relationships with members of Caritoba Golf Club and members of Rossmere Golf Course. He loved his golf chat and would get a chuckle from the messages and jokes. Larry also had a strong faith and was a member and reader at St. Gerard Roman Catholic Church.
We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the caring and compassionate nurses, doctors, pharmacists and staff at CancerCare Manitoba and to those who cared for him at Saint Boniface Hospital in the final week of his life.
He is survived by his loving family, Shirley, Justin and Celecia; son-in-law Pat and grandchildren, Teja and Devy. His sisters, Joan, Betty, Loretta and sister-in-law Marilyn and their families. He now rests with his brother, Winston, and parents, Alice and Carl.
A celebration of life for Larry, will be held on his birthday at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 2:00 pm. To view the service online, select the Livestream link below.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead make a donation to Cancer Care Manitoba or donate blood to help those fighting cancer.
