Left to mourn her passing and honour her legacy of kindness are her husband Mike; her adored children Anthony and Isabella; her mother and best friend Elena; father Gustavo (Candace); beloved grandmother Lida; sister Daniela and brother David; godmother Liliana; mother in law Aida; sister and brother in law Terri and Greg; niece Emily; nephew Christofer; nephew and godson Matthew and goddaughter Gabriella; as well as many treasured aunts, uncles, and cousins. There are also many friends that Lida has from all walks of life that are deeply saddened by this loss, as evidenced by the tremendous outpouring of love and support during this unbearable time. Lida was predeceased by her father in law Amaral and step father Kenny.
Lida was born in Winnipeg in 1977 to Elena Anania and Gustavo Conci. The first of three children, Lida quickly became a caregiver to her siblings. This role of caregiver would become one that Lida embraced, always taking care of every single person that she came across in the most beautiful way possible and never wanting for anything in return. At school she enjoyed cheer and gymnastics and in thinking of the meaning of a true cheerleader, Lida certainly was this throughout her life, always looking to make those around her feel special and important.
In high school, Lida met her best friend, her soul mate, her future husband Mike Rodrigues. He swept her off her feet with his charm and his amazingly well-written love letters. He of course drove her away a few times, but they always found their way back to each other because their love was that strong. In 2004, on a gorgeous fall day these two high school sweethearts became husband and wife and the beginning of an incredible adventure began. In August of 2007, Mike and Lida welcomed their first child Anthony. He was perhaps the most adored baby on the planet. Mike and Lida were so proud of their beautiful baby boy. Joining Anthony in 2010, was their second child, their princess Isabella. Bright cheeks and beautiful big blue eyes, the Rodrigues family was now complete. Lida and Mike had the kind of love that could withstand anything and together they provided their small, perfect family with every amazing experience possible.
Many times we say that we live for our children, however, Lida truly embodied this. She championed them at any given moment, so fiercely proud of their accomplishments. Whether at soccer, or hockey, cheer or gymnastics, Lida was Anthony and Isabella’s greatest cheerleader, encouraging them with every breath. With Mike or her mom Elena by her side, Lida did not miss one single game, event or competition. We know that this will continue, that Lida will be watching down on Anthony and Isabella, cheering them on from the stands up in heaven, the angel with the most beautiful smile.
She arranged parties and events with such care that everyone in attendance was always in awe. She wasn’t just an event planner, she was a giver of happiness, organizer of enduring memories, ensuring that every last detail of any event was just perfect. The number of people that Lida made smile throughout her life is immeasurable.
We would like to thank everyone for their incredible support and generosity over the past few days. Lida’s legacy will live on in each one of you. In lieu of flowers, an account in the name of Anthony and Isabella has been set up at the Royal Bank, Pembina Branch.
To honour Lida, please take the time to spread kindness. Take the time to be somebody’s champion just like she did every day of her life. “Love a little deeper, laugh a little louder, hold the ones you love a little tighter.”
A celebration of Lida will take place on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, 85 Kirkbridge Drive. A reception will follow at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
