Lisa was predeceased by her father Robert (Bob) in 1990.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children Riley and Jenna; mother Mavis; step-father Ernie; brother Bruce (Mary); sister Kelly (Brian); and brother Rod (Natalie). She will also be sadly missed by nieces Amanda (Todd) and Stacie; and nephews Colin (Nikki) and Ryan (Ashley) along with great-nieces Ava, Lila and Liliana; and great-nephews Brock, Warner and Austin.
Lisa was born in Winnipeg and resided there her entire life. She was passionate and strong willed and fought her short battle against cancer with the same strength and determination that she lived her life. From a very young age, Lisa loved spending time at the family cottage. She enjoyed many beautiful sunsets, read enough books to fill a library and enjoyed her time with family and friends. Lisa loved her family and with her last words spoken in the days prior to passing, left us all with the gift of hearing those special words one last time.
Lisa began her working career as a hairdresser where she made many life-long friends. In 2008, she decided it was time to take a different direction with her career. With her typical drive, determination and willingness to go against the grain, Lisa returned to school in her mid 30’s to gain the further education necessary that ultimately led to her role as Prosecuting File Manager with Manitoba Justice, which she held until her passing. As with hairdressing, many of Lisa’s closest friendships were developed with the team of great people she worked with.
Lisa was surrounded by exceptional friends who cared for her until the very end; you know who you are. The family is greatly appreciative of the support that you provided her not just during the good times in her life, but during her most difficult days as well. We would like to thank all who held Lisa in their hearts and prayers throughout her illness, as well as the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for easing the pain of her final days, with an extra special thanks to Nurses Colleen and Sandra.
A celebration of Lisa’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7.
