

After a long, healthy, and happy life Loraine Joiner, after suffering several severe strokes, passed away quietly on Tuesday, 22 November 2022, at the age of 84 at Seven Oaks Hospital. She will be sadly missed by her son and daughter-in-law Leigh and Tracey Joiner, Grandson Davy Joiner, sister Elizabeth Fay Kostyshyn and all the rest of her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Dave Joiner, brother George Larkin, father and mother, Frederick and Katie Larkin.
Loraine was born in Bowsman, Manitoba 7 Apr 1938 and grew up on the Caverley farm before the family moved to their own farm in Lady Hubble Manitoba. She moved to Winnipeg where she worked for Manitoba Telephone followed by The Greater Winnipeg Gas Company. She met Dave through mutual friends, and they were married on 9 Nov 1963. She left the Gas company in 1972 with the birth of their son Leigh Joiner and concentrated on maintaining the family home. After Leigh left home, Loraine spent many years as a volunteer at The Western Canada Aviation Museum working in the library and archives. She had many friends at WCAM and loved them all.
She loved to cook, garden, sew, knit, crochet, and tell stories. She kept in touch with old friends and stayed connected to her family, all of who loved her and miss her dearly.
A private gathering will be held in celebration of Loraine’s life in spring 2023 followed by the internment of her ashes in Rossburn Manitoba next to her husband Dave.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Loraine's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Library & Archives Reading Room Project at The Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada.
