Man-Nar (Sandy) Yim (嚴敏娜) passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre in the afternoon of February 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was predeceased by her mother, father, one dear brother, and two dear brothers-in-law. Sandy will be dearly missed by her son, sisters, brother, their spouses, nieces, nephews, and her extended family and friends in Winnipeg, Vancouver, Toronto, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Hong Kong.
Born in Hong Kong, Sandy originally immigrated to Winnipeg in December 1981. Over the course of her life, she built deep roots in both Winnipeg and Hong Kong, embracing opportunities abroad while always remaining closely connected to family. She established her career in the travel and hospitality industry in Hong Kong and raised her family in Winnipeg, moving between the two cities at different chapters of her life.
She will be remembered as a kind, intelligent, and generous soul whose energy filled every room she entered with her smile and humour. A quick learner with a natural curiosity, she embraced life with enthusiasm and determination, working hard and playing even harder. Sandy had a remarkable gift for bringing people together, effortlessly planning celebrations and organizing unforgettable gatherings that reflected her creativity and joy, and creating memories we all cherish. If you ever wondered what the next holiday theme might be, you only had to glance at her beautifully decorated nails for a hint. Those who connected with her were fortunate. Her friendships were deep, enduring, and built to last a lifetime. Above all, her greatest joy and proudest blessing was her son, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally.
The family sincerely thanks the doctors and nurses at CancerCare and Riverview Health Centre for the compassionate care and support they provided to Sandy and her family.
With appreciation for your kindness, the family asks that flowers not be sent. In honour of Sandy’s wishes, a Celebration of Life for family and close friends will be held on February 27th, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home & Cemetery, Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Cremation will take place prior to the Celebration of Life.
