Maria Adelina Amado

On Monday, November 12, 2012 passed peacefully at the age of 86. Maria was predeceased by her loving husband Carlos in 1990. She was dearly loved and will be missed by her children Carlos, Jorge (Susan), Maria Dilar Almeida (Rui), Maria Sao Pedro, Jose, Anita Scarpino (Carmine) and grandchildren Stephanie, Miguel, Adam, Carla and Nicole. She will also be remembered by her sisters Teresa Dias (Antonio), Fernanda Gomes, and brother Jose Laginha and numerous nephews and nieces.

Mom was born on March 8th, 1926 in Algarve, Portugal. She married Dad in 1950. Mom will be remembered for her courage and strength of character. In 1963, Mom travelled with five children to join Dad, who had come to Canada a few years earlier. The family settled in the West End. Mom was a talented seamstress who worked in the textile industry for many years. Mom and Dad moved back to Portugal to enjoy their retirement in the home they had left behind for so many years. Mom returned to Canada many times after the passing of her husband to be close to her children.

We would like to thank all the staff at the Calvary Place Nursing Home for the wonderful care they gave to our mother over the last few years of her life.

Services will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday November 15th at Thomson Funeral Home 669 Broadway.
