Maria Carbone Celeste

She was predeceased by her husband Umberto Celeste; siblings Giuseppe Carbone, Cetina Colautti and Emma Carbone; and her daughter Franca Londero.

She is survived by daughter Lella Celeste; grandchildren Teresa and Paul Londero; Sabrina Spaeth, great-grandchildren Sienna and Summer Spaeth; and her nieces and nephews in Italy.

Maria came to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1967 from Cosenza, Italy. She was a wonderful caregiver raising her grandchildren while her children worked. When she wasn’t homemaking, she worked at the University of Winnipeg in the housekeeping department and she travelled regularly to Vancouver and Italy to visit her family and spend time with her relatives.

Maria was always there for her family. She was also a talented cook, gardener and seamstress. She eventually met her companion Joe Fiorino and they spent many years together with family and friends, travelling to Phoenix and enjoying life together.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 24, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
