Maria Isolina Alvarez JOHNSON

July 23, 1941December 28, 2020

It is with great sadness the family of Maria Johnson, announces her passing on Monday, Dec 28, 2020 at the age of 79 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 24 years, Victor Johnson, her daughter Tracy Zziwa (Charles), son Jim Conceicao, grandchildren Ramona, Keiran, Courtney, Joshua, Paul, Santanae, Tendo, Sanyu, Naiya, great-grandchild Faith; Peter (Elizabeth) Luzige, Diana (Jim) Kasule, Joyce Kanyago, Cassandra Nimira, Sherri-lyn (Howard) Kowalchuk, Carolyn Logan, Kristen Logan as well as many other family members and friends.

Maria was pre-deceased by her parents, Victória da Costa Alvarez Silva and Gregório Loureiro Silva and is survived by her loving brother Luis Silva. Maria grew up in Portugal and lived there with her family till she moved to Canada in the late 60's. She was extremely proud of her brother Luis who was enlisted in the military service and when he had to leave to Africa to fulfill his duties oh how she missed him! Luis always made her laugh with his storytelling and she loved him and her parents dearly. After leaving Portugal, Maria moved to Vancouver for several years to raise her children with support from her family members whom she loved and cherished.

Eventually Maria settled in Winnipeg and worked tirelessly to always provide for her family without ever a complaint! Its also where she met her husband Victor who she loved and adored and they were literally in-separable from the moment they met. She was the best grandparent you could ever hope for and always took the grandkids for camping adventures every summer and cheered them on at their sporting events. Maria was such a huge part of their lives in every way and no words can ever say how much she will be loved and missed by all of us.

Rest in peace my beautiful mother and know that I love you with all my heart now and forever❤

Due to restrictions an interment will commence on Wed, Jan 6, 2020 at 1p.m. St. John's Cathedral Cemetery - 135 Anderson Ave.

The family matriarch who loved unconditionally who cherished family like no other !
Who measured one not by their failures but by the challenges each affronted to be the best of themselves and overcame !
Thank you for all the sacrifices you made for me and my family! You gave up your home so we could be alright and for that I’ll be forever and eternally grateful!
We cut a rug all so often to Brooks and Dunn “my Maria” and can’t wait to do that again more so on heaven’s floor!
I will miss you mom more than words can say and will always treasure your generosity and kindness to the end of time!
Rest In Peace Mom! All is well !
