It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Marj, age 77, on July 16, 2023.
Marj was born in Winnipeg, January 20, 1946, to Lloyd and Wilma Harrison. She grew up on a farm near Domain, MB and moved with her family to the city at age 17. Marj attended the U of M where she achieved a degree in Home Economics, as well as a certificate in teaching. She met her future husband while working at UGG and they married in 1968. Marj taught school until the birth of her son, Matthew. She returned to work after the birth of her daughter, Shannon, this time for Xerox.
Marj had a green thumb, spending the summer months working tirelessly in the flower gardens. She was also known for her skill with a needle and thread, creating everything from Halloween costumes for her children to her own wedding gown. She frequently could be found hemming clothes or even sewing complete outfits for friends and family. Marj’s quick wit stayed with her until the end and will be sorely missed by all.
Marjorie is survived by her children Matthew and Shannon, as well as by her sister Rhonda and her nephews Bryce (Marie), Colin (Dana), and Shane (Melissa). She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Terry Watling.
The family would like to thank the staff of River Park Gardens for their amazing care and compassion.
A Memorial Celebration will be held Friday, July 28, 2023 at 10:00am, at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. This is an informal come and go Celebration of Life; an opportunity to share refreshments and remembrances. Tributes will be given at 10:30am.
