Marty was a tireless refugee advocate and a mench! . His passion for social justice and protecting vulnerable people inspired all of us. We will deeply miss his compassion and his joie de vivre.

Your legacy will continue to save lives, Marty. One thing is being privileged, another thing is the way you use your privileges. You, Marty, have not just felt bad about others' protection needs, injustices, and suffering. You spoke out from the heart, took action, challenged the minds that prefer inaction. We are not just mourning but celebrating one of the lives best lived, in service to others.

Marty unrelentingly used his strong voice for justice. He wasn't always easy to get along  with, but he (almost) never made trouble without a good reason! I respect his vision and energy, and hope his legacy of humanistic questioning, learning, and fighting lives on. 

Gosh Marty. Can't believe your larger than life being has moved on. I remember your great heart, your feisty personality and your absolute conviction of belief in our ability to change the system. I enjoyed working on your campaign for re-election all those years ago. You taught me some lessons about politics and how to fight the good fight. Brave on Marty. Your legacy will continue.
