Mary was born on May 7, 1922 in Pine River, MB to Michael and Anna (Kitlarchuk) Holomay. Mary graduated from grade 8 in Bowsman, MB however she never stopped learning both formally and informally. As Mary was married to the railroad, she raised her four boys throughout Manitoba, from the barrenlands of the Hudson Bay Lowlands (Cromarty) to isolated Fay Lake/Athapap to small town Cranberry Portage/Mafeking/Gillam and even to the Saskatchewan prairie community of Wadena. Her children remember her as a kind mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Her grandchildren were a great source of joy and she always enjoyed sharing her life experiences and philosophy with them.
Mary loved to read and loved discussing any or all of her reading topics with anyone who was willing to engage with her. She was a quiet individual who loved her independence and who was passionate about her various hobbies of reading, curling, knitting, cooking, painting, travelling etc.
At Mary's request, no service is scheduled.
The family would like to thank all of the caregivers at the Charleswood Care Centre for their care and dedication.
