On November 8, 2022, Michael Tyshkewich at 57 years old, passed away suddenly at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg.
He was born March 11, 1965 in Winnipeg and was the only child of Martha. A father to his two daughters, Vanessa and Brittany. Despite his own personal challenges, he was a devoted caregiver to his mother in the recent years.
Michael was very proud of his Ukrainian heritage. His pride carried forward into the kitchen where he loved to cook many popular Ukrainian dishes – perogies, cabbage rolls and borscht. He loved to enjoy the many restaurants that were in his neighbourhood – as he said Winnipeg always had great food.
He enjoyed so many activities such as swimming, cards with friends, online 3 spot tournaments, but his biggest love was his E-bike. In his earlier years you would find Michael playing his guitar and surrounded by his electronics. He loved ‘jammin’ with his friends in his younger days as music was a big part of his life. Those who knew Michael knew that he was that guy you could go to for any computer issue… He was a computer guru for so many. He loved to watch sports with his friends, namely the Jets, Blue Bombers and Blue Jays. He was excited for this years’ Grey Cup as the Bombers were the defending Cup Champions.
Michael was a great contrarian. He loved to provoke intellectual conversations on a wide range of topics. He would debate anyone who braved an intelligent conversation with him.
Michael is survived by his Mother Martha, his daughters Vanessa and Brittany. His Aunts Ann, Aunt Olga (Rob), Irene, Nettie, Pearl, and numerous cousins that live across the country.
Michael is preceded in death by his Grandparents Paul and Annie, his uncles Andrew, Boris (Ruby), Nick (Irene), Demetri (Cathy) and Paul (Lorette).
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held November 27 at 1pm at 561 St. Anne’s Road – Vivacity Gym. Please use the corner door in parking lot (located off Richfield Ave) and RSVP with his daughter Vanessa if you would like to attend.
