Our beautiful, loving, positive, compassionate Michelle has become an angel. She will be remembered with love long after her passing.
It is with heavy and saddened hearts that the family of Michelle Lynn Fingler announce the loss of our mother, sister, daughter, and friend in her courageous fight against Cancer. As day broke and the sun rose on Saturday September 25, 2021, our Michelle left us to be with our other loved ones in Heaven.
Predeceased by her Mother Linda, Michelle leaves to mourn her passing her two sons, Devon (Sarah), Trent as well as her father John; brother Michael (Debi) and nieces Sara and Alex (Jason), also best friend Judi (Markus), and family in Manitoba and BC.
Michelle was born June 19, 1967, in Winnipeg to mother and father Linda and John Wilson. Linda spent many months in the Woman’s Pavilion waiting for the arrival of the girl and baby she was warned could jeopardize her health but would risk all to have her baby girl and assure her well-being. Michelle arrived and was given the name “Muffin” by her Grandfather Eddy Carlson who exclaimed her” beautiful and sweet like a little muffin,” which would turn into our girl affectionately forever being known as Muffy.
Muffy grew up in Elmwood attending George V Elementary and Elmwood High School making many lifelong friends. She loved music and we will never forget her air band impersonation of Cindy Lauper and Boy George in high school. Michelle loved being a mother and raising her sons was the most important thing in her world. Michelle was a caregiver and was always there for her family, friends and even strangers. She wouldn’t hesitate to get out of her car to help a senior cross the road or put a blanket on someone at the site of a car accident.
Michelle worked in various jobs in banking, but eventually found her passion and calling in working with children as an Educational Assistant. Michelle’s face would light up as she spoke about the children and many of her last thoughts were of the upcoming school year and her kids at O.V. Jewitt Community School. Her love of working with the teachers and her students made her happy every day.
The family wants to extend a special thank you to all her friends, co-workers, Cancer Care team (Lori & Dr. Kim), and staff at SBH Palliative Care who supported and helped Michelle with compassion and empathy during her battle with Cancer.
A celebration of Michelle’s life will be held on Friday October 8th at 2pm.
Due to Covid Restrictions our capacity is limited to 70 people.
A live stream of the formal celebration will be held for those who are unable to attend.
