The family of Nestor Alexander Kripp – his wife Eleanor, his children Dana and Michael, and Dana’s partner Zal – wish to record his passing on October 26, 2020 at the age of 86 years.
Alex grew up on Winnipeg’s Toronto Street during the late 1930s and early 1940s playing ball hockey, basketball and listening to the St. Louis Cardinals. The next major decision was Architecture or Law; he chose the Law, graduating from the University of Manitoba Law School and being called to the Bar in 1960. Alex was able to maintain his sense of fun and humour his whole life: touring Europe in his 1960 Sunbeam Alpine, raising and providing for a family of four, waterskiing and golfing at Falcon Lake, skiing in Montana and travelling, fly fishing and camping throughout North America. Alex was the walking companion to three Kerry Blue terriers over the years and harboured a love of classical music, the Bowery Boys, Laurel and Hardy, and Peter Sellers. If you couldn’t hear yourself think at a screening of “The Pink Panther Strikes Again,” it was him that was laughing so loud.
A compassionate man, always ready to help others to a fault, the world is that much darker a place without him. Alex will be missed.
We wish to express our thanks, for outstanding medical care over many years, to retired Dr. Ian Maxwell, Dr. P. Skrabek, Dr. E. Bashara, and Dr. A. Zaki. Our thanks must also go to Palliative Care for their kind attendance over the last few weeks.
If you wish, donations in Alex’s memory may be made to Victoria General Hospital CancerCare or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A private interment will take place at St. Vital Cemetery.
