On Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Vista Park Lodge, Norman passed away peacefully in his sleep. He was alert and content to the end, enjoying the regular visits of family and friends. Of constant joy were the card games, cocktails and companionship with his long time work colleague and best friend, Doug Slemmons.
Norman lived a long and happy life with his wife, Margaret, until she succumbed to cancer, then later with his second wife, Joan, who also predeceased him. He will be sadly missed by his daughter (Heather) and son (Wayne) and their spouses, step daughters (Janice and Susan) and a loving family of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Norman was an accomplished musician, artist, woodworker, handyman and curler who loved camping and challenging family members to any number of games and sports. He was an avid golfer in earlier years with his work colleagues at Investors, where he spent almost his entire professional career, growing with the company to eventually become the Head Office Personnel Manager.
He aimed for perfection in every aspect of his life, and succeeded at most (golf being a notable exception), yet placed a higher value on kindness, generosity and the consideration of others above any personal achievements. In these days of so much self-interest and malice, the world has lost a true gentleman.
A private family ceremony will be held.
