Pat passed away peacefully on October 17, 2020.
She will be lovingly missed by all who knew her but especially her children; Rick (Laurie), Susan, Cynthia (Loron), daughter-in-law Lesley and her eight beloved grandchildren; Robin (Karen), Eric (Marie-Paule), Jonathan, Michael (Caroline), Amy (Matt), Luca, Andrew (Meghan), Ashley (Harvey) and great-grandchildren; Jameson, Addison, Audrey, Elodie, Jude, Leif and Sadie; as well as her brother and sister-in-law Bill and Donna Parrish and special friend Gwen Grant. She was predeceased by her husband Bob in 2009 and son-in-law Enzo in 2013, son Rob in 2019 and great-grandson Dillon in 2020.
Pat was born in Winnipeg, the daughter of Fred and Vera Parrish. She was a pioneer in early childcare starting the nursery program at the U of M after graduating with a B. of Sc. in Home Ec. and taking specialized courses in Ames Iowa. After marrying Bob in 1947, she used those skills to become the best mother ever. She was an active member of the Junior League and the Wildwood Club and a longtime volunteer at the Victoria General Hospital. She enjoyed many years in her various bridge clubs with wonderful lifelong friends. Her favourite place was the cottage at Falcon Lake where she spent every summer partying with her friends, hosting the bridge ladies and opening her door to her kids and their friends, building many special memories. Pat was the consummate homemaker, a wonderful cook, knitter and sewer who continued knitting scarves for Siloam Mission even after losing her vision. She also enjoyed reading and listening to audio books and continued to complete the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle weekly with her children reading the clues. She was truly a special person who had a tremendously positive attitude and she cherished her last eight years with her many new friends and staff at the Portsmouth. She would encourage all who read this to celebrate her life by drinking a Manhattan.
Special thank you to Dr. Brian Sharkey for his dedicated care and to the staff of the Portsmouth.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Guild of the Victoria General Hospital, 2340 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R3T2E8 or to another charity of your choice.
