Brother Paul, you are remembered and missed each day by your loved ones. May your soul rest in peace.

On behalf of the Kenneth and Persaud families our thoughts and prayers are with you Auntie Paro and all the families during this difficult time.  Uncle Paul was a great man and we are all thankful for everything he did for our Winnipeg Community from his contribution in Cricket, Mandir, Golfing etc.   The Golfing Guys will missed him lots.   We also enjoyed being in Kirtan with him and he was such a great singer.  May his soul rest in eternal peace.  Om Sadgati.

A shining star, a source of energy and inspiration in this family has fallen and you have lost his warmth and companionship, nay, we too have lost.  We are all so much poorer today because we have also lost a dear friend and brother. 
If it seems dark at this time, it is only that the light has dimmed, the dawn has come for him as he journeys home. 
The person and being we knew as Surujpaul Balkaran is no more, his work is done as far as his Karma destined on earth. He tried and did his best for all whom he touched and all those who touched him.  And in one life time there is only so much a person can do as destined by KarmaYoga. Paul's sojourn, toils and grace on earth are done.  At this time his departed Atma journeys on its astral quest for liberation from the incessant cosmic dance with life and death.

And so today, it is my melancholy duty to join with you and this aggrieved family as you prepare for the Antim Sanskar or Antyeshti, the 16th and final Vedic ritual in his honor, and disposition (cremation) of his body, and liberation of the soul of your beloved, as he moves on to a higher plane and place. May you all find peace and solace as you bid him farewell.
To his immediate family, Paro, children and grandchildren, we extend our deepest sympathy and wish  you well. To Paul's brothers, Bab, Isar, Mangal and sisters, Baby, Indranie and all relatives, we also extend our condolences  and wish you well. 
In the Rig Veda, a Vedic funeral hymn intones: “Where eternal luster glows, the realm in which the light divine is set, place me, Purifier, in that deathless, imperishable world. Make me immortal in that realm where movement is accordant to wish, in the third region, the third heaven of heavens, where the worlds are resplendent.”

Paul was a pioneer in our Guyanese community and a founded member of our temple. Over the years, he served on many positions on the board, bringing unity in a religious setting. He will be remembered for his soft spoken, kind and gentle personality. 
“Remembering me at the time of death, close down the doors of the senses and place the mind in the heart. Then, while absorbed in meditation, focus all energy upwards to the head.
