Obituary of Peggy Olwen Irving
IN THE CARE OF

Thomson In The Park Funeral Home and Cemetery

Remembered With Love

It is with sadness but profound gratitude for her long life that we announce the passing of Peggy Olwen Irving (nee Hogg) on December 23, 2025.

Born in Winnipeg on September 18, 1926, Peggy was 99 years of age. She was predeceased by her first husband William Morrey in 2004, and second husband Harold “Bud” Irving in 2024.

Peggy will be lovingly remembered by her son William (Dianne) and daughter Nancy, grandchildren John (Hannah), Jennifer (Derek), Tristan (Theresa), Laura (Michael), and beloved great-granddaughters Kali and Noa.

She is also survived by her niece Kristine (Kevin), nephew David, great-nephews Jamie and Ben, cousins Lorna, Leanne (Paul) and Andrew.

Peggy would be the first to say she had lived a full and rewarding life. She was proud of her Irish and Welsh ancestry.

One of her first jobs was running the nursery and daycare at the Hudson’s Bay Company’s flagship store in Winnipeg when she was 15. She spent many summers at Grand Beach and attended Gordon Bell High School.

Wherever she lived in her many homes, from the cabin in Bissett, MB where she and Bill began their married life, to a heritage home in Brownsburg, Quebec to Vancouver Island and ultimately back to Winnipeg, Peggy created a warm and welcoming place for her family and for the countless friends she loved to entertain.

A great beauty with an unfailing eye, Peggy was an accomplished painter specializing in oil paintings of landscapes. Her love of animals, gardening, nature, politics and fine art were always evident.

To the very end, Peggy maintained written correspondence with family and friends, sending out her sixty annual Christmas cards only two weeks before she died.

Bill and Nancy would like to give special thanks to Dr. Joshua, Nurse Kaylin and Nurse Glen at the Grace Hospital 5th Floor, for your gentle and compassionate care.

Words cannot express our gratitude for the many times Dr. Alvin “Al” Schroeder made friendly visits, house calls in times of need, and sent updates. There could not be a more dedicated and devoted physician.

Cremation has taken place and interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

A celebration of her life is planned for what would have been Peggy’s 100th
