Left to cherish his memory is his wife Maria; children Kevin, Shawna, Mekha and Shanee; mother Shamdei; brothers and sisters Jean (Prem), Sorace (Kavita), Kenneth, Lynette (Ken), Annette (Myron), Julie (Kash) and Dave; several nieces and nephews and friends and neighborhood connections; and Lost and Forgotten Children he looked out for, who called him Pops.

Gupta was born in Enmore, Guyana where he attended the Guyana Govt. Technical Institute and graduated with a Diploma in Plumbing. He migrated to Canada in 1981 at age 22 and began working at PCL Construction and Kraft Construction later doing carpentry and construction work.
Even though an injury at his workplace shortened his career and significantly impacted his life, he accepted and carried on proudly and did the best he figured. No matter what challenges showed up, Gupta was a fighter and a warrior throughout his life. He lived his life his way. Gupta’s children were very important and close to his heart.
Gupta was full of stories and big on life in Guyana and here in Canada. He had the gift of the gab. Back in the day, he loved to dress well and walk the streets of Enmore proudly. If you had an opportunity to have seen him recently, you would have thought he was the local Mr. T. (A-Team) in his fancy jewelry. He shared many precious moments and memories growing up with his family in Guyana. He treated his friends like family. He was a very spiritual person. He saw value in the old and was an avid antique collector. He was fond of cricket and played for the Enmore Youth Club & the Olympians Cricket Team here at the Assiniboine Park, early in his life. He was very good at card-playing, and specifically loved the game, Brag.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 20 at 10:00 am at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
The family acknowledges and gives gratitude to the Health Sciences Centre, Mainstay Projects, Manitoba Hindu Dharmik Sabha Temple and Thomson “In the Park”.
