It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Cycon on March 31, 2024, at the Selkirk Betel Care Home. Rick was survived by his loving wife Jacqueline Cycon (nee Elliot), his son Kalyle (Janice), grandson Jason, nephew Jason (Tora), extended Hotel family and dear friends Carol, Tom, Brad (Kayla), Ryan (Ashleigh) and extended nieces and nephews.
Rick was born May 17, 1951, and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In May 1978, Rick began his career at Lowe Mechanical as the company’s first employee /Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic. Rick’s career evolved from the HVAC-R technician to Project Manager. Known for his attention to detail, Rick’s superior technical knowledge and exceptional customer service made him the “go-to” person for many of the co-workers, technicians, and customers. During his tenure at Lowe Mechanical, Rick established lifelong friendships. Rick’s passion for his work spanned over 35 years until he retired in 2013.
Jackie and Rick met, fell in love, and married in 1984. They lived with their son at their beautiful home in Garson Manitoba. Rick was a devoted loving husband, dedicated father, grandfather, uncle, and dear friend. He was always willing to help anyone in need of assistance. He was dependable, incredibly kind, patient, and supportive to all that were fortunate to know him.
Rick loved being at his cottage where he often kept busy tending to the beloved structure, while he enjoyed the sounds and sights the scenic view of the lake and wildlife. Being amongst nature was his sanctuary. He loved attending various music concerts and traveling distant places around the world - creating cherished memories.
Rick will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The Cycon family would like to thank the Beausejour Hospital and the Selkirk Betel Hospital for the care provided to Rick in his final days. The Cycon family also wish to thank the Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home team.
An informal Celebration of Life gathering will take place Friday, May 3, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, located at 1291 McGillivray Blvd, Winnipeg, for family and friends.
Flowers are welcome; Contributions may be sent to a local charity of your choice in memory of Rick.
You are gone, yet not forgotten. Although we are apart, your spirit lives on in our hearts and memories.
