OBITUARY

Robert Brian Cook

August 21, 1946 – January 17, 2022
Obituary of Robert Brian Cook
IN THE CARE OF

Thomson In The Park Funeral Home and Cemetery

Remembered with love

Surrounded by love, our husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Monday, January 17th at the Grace Hospital.

Brian will be lovingly remembered and cherished by his wife of 50 years Gerry, his son Jeff (Rochelle), daughter Jodi (Steve) as well as his four grandchildren, whom he loved with all his heart, Devon, Katie, Aidan and Mackenzie.

Brian was predeceased by his parents Bob and Elaine Cook and his brother Jim. He is survived by his brother Wayne (Carolyn) of Toronto and his sister Carol (Malcolm) of Saskatoon, sister-in-law Georgine Cook, and sister-in-law Jane Town of Victoria plus numerous nephews and nieces.

Growing up Brian spent many happy summers at the family cottage in Kenora. He was also a counselor at Camp Stephens where he met many lifelong friends. After attending the University of Winnipeg, he joined his father at Robert G. Cook Ltd and remained in the insurance industry for most of his working career. Upon retirement, he decided to drive a school bus and he was glad he did. He thoroughly enjoyed driving and the friendship with his fellow drivers.

For many years Brian curled at the Winter Club and was the curling governor for a couple of years. He was also president of the Winnipeg Executive Association as well as being a director of the Winnipeg Football Club. His “Bogeyman” golf group was important to him, and he enjoyed the dinner get-togethers.

Most of all Brian loved his family. His favorite times were spent gathered in the gazebo enjoying a glass of red wine (or 2) and then grilling burgers for all to enjoy or sitting around the dining room table having a rousing game of “Bonanza”. As long as family was around, he was a happy man. He will be dearly missed.

Donations in memory of Brian can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Thomson in the Park Funeral Home.
