ROGELIO VALERA SICAT
December 24, 1944 – June 11, 2025
We will gather to celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man, Rogelio Valera Sicat, who passed away peacefully on the morning of June 11, 2025, at Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.
Known to many as Roger, he was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend whose kindness, warmth, and quiet strength touched the lives of everyone he met. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Celestino and Catalina, and now finds his eternal rest beside them in his beloved home of Winnipeg.
Roger’s memory lives on through his sons, Rodel and Romano; his daughters, Carol and Cherry; and his treasured grandchildren: Jordan, Taliyah, Sileyah, Liam, Paisley, and Cohen. In each of them, his gentle spirit, love for family, and enduring sense of humour will carry forward.
For 34 years, Roger worked with dedication and pride at Monarch Industries in Winnipeg, where he built not only a career, but lifelong friendships. After retiring, he embraced a new chapter in Edmonton, continuing to be a steady and supportive presence to those around him.
Roger was a man of quiet routines and strong values. He found joy in simple pleasures—long walks and morning exercise at West Edmonton Mall, weekend visits with his grandchildren, and sharing stories filled with laughter and life lessons. He was a man who showed love through action, who made time for others, and who never missed an opportunity to lend a hand or lift a spirit.
As we prepare to say our goodbyes, we do so with deep gratitude for the life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind. Roger had one final wish: to return home to Winnipeg, to rest beside his mother. We take comfort in knowing that this wish will be honoured, and that he will be welcomed home with love.
An evening Lamay will be held on Friday, June 27, from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home 1291 McGillivray Blvd.
This will be a time to come together, reflect, share stories, and celebrate Roger’s life.
Funeral services will take place the following morning, Saturday, June 28 at 10:00 a.m., at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home.
All who knew and loved Roger are warmly invited to join us in honouring his memory.
