We wish that we could turn back the clock for a brief time.  Oh, the memories.  Your darling Mom, Liz; taken far too young and the pilot, golfer, curler, hunting buddy that was your dad.  He was such a nice person and not an enemy in this world.

My message is intended both as a tribute to a man and a note to long ago family friends. I was born in Portage la Prairie, the son of Margaret and William O (Bill) Tate. My parents were long-time friends of Alex and Peggy Munro. My twin sister, Wendy, and I are close in age to Richard and Patti, and as small children, we would play back and forth at our family homes. My Mother and Dad knew Ron, and although I don't recall ever meeting him, I feel I “know” him very well. After WWII, because of Mr. Richardson's involvement in the RCAF during the War years, he consented to participate in a long-term health study. Since 1948, as one of 3,983 young veterans, he has submitted medical information on a routine basis to the Study offices. I “know” Mr. Richardson, because, today, I am the Director of this Study. Mr. Ron Richardson and the men of the Manitoba Follow-up Study (www.mfus.ca) merit a great thank you from all Canadians for dedication to our country and lifelong contributions to medical research. With a salute to Mr. Richardson, my sincere condolence to all family members, and warm memories of times past to Peggy, Richard and Patti.

We wish to express our sympathy over the loss of Ron Richardson; one of the most honest and chaitable Gentleman we have had the; honour to know.

Jamie and Joanie - I regret being unable to attend the Celebration for 'Uncle Ron' as I was in court at that exact time helping someone out. I only have great memories of your Dad and Mom and they can never be taken from me. Only time will help with your healing from your loss and your memories will be enhanced from the loss you are experiencing now. Remember his laughter, his kindness and his good humour, those are the things I remember most. My thoughts are with you both.

Dear Jamie and Joanie....we are all thinking of you and sending our love.  Mom and I are coming for the service tomorrow. 
I will always remember Uncle Ron as such a kind and gentle soul.  When I was saying goodbye to all my friends at the Victoria airport in 1971 en route to Calgary for grade 12...I was all on my own and was so very sad to leave. Then the stewardess came up and said your uncle would like you to come and join him in the cockpit.  So up I went and we talked about life and moving and change and by the time we got to Calgary he had helped me to see the new adventures that lay ahead. Plus I had the most amazing view of the mountains and had a chance to see what it takes to be the great pilot that he was.

Joan and Jamie - Rae and I are unfortunately unable to attend your Dad's service on Tuesday, March 12th.  We will remember the many happy occasions we spent with your parents, in Winnipeg and in Vancouver.  Your Dad and I shared lots of Air Canada memories!

Ron was my first supervisor when I transferred to YVR, on the DC-8.  I was so fortunate. We all were. He was a one of a kind individual.  Very gentle and nurturing yet demanding.  A rare blend.
I'm sure you cherish the memories of your father.  I'm retired now, but your Ron was an influence in my career, and I am grateful.
So sorry he's gone.

We were recently laughing about times spent at Stead Camp, Jones, ON. One in particular involving Ron and the boats steering being repaired incorrectly making it steer opposite of what it was meant to do. I had never seen Ron laugh so hard. He was a good guy, and I enjoyed many conversations with him over the years. He will be missed!

I remember your dad as a 'good guy and a good dad' even though I was a kid and that was a long time ago. He and your mother raised two intelligent, kind and considerate human beings, which pretty much says it all.
