

Ruth passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 21, 2013, just a few days short of her ninety-eighth birthday. She was predeceased by her much loved and loving husband Frederick (Ted) Scott Nickle.
Ruth was born in Verdun, Quebec on September 26, 1915 and moved to Winnipeg with Ted in 1940. She was a long time resident of River Heights, a consummate hostess and very active volunteer with organizations such as the Lion’s Club Ladies, The Craft Guild and the CNIB, amongst others.
She was devoted to her family and was the keeper of the Johnson family history, always sharing cherished childhood memories of her predeceased sisters and brothers, Olive, Gladys, Edna, Doris, Bob and Harry, and parents Annie (Grant) and Charles.
Ruth will be remembered for her wonderful character, strong will and great sense of humour. She leaves her step-daughter Audrey Nickle (Sandbank) of London, England, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews with many wonderful memories and stories of a great lady.
A memorial service will be held at St. Aidan’s Anglican Church at 274 Campbell Street, Winnipeg on Saturday, September 28th at 11:00 am.
