Shirley Olive Ann (Blackman) Gering

On Tuesday, October 24, 2023 Shirley passed away at HSC Palliative Care Unit. She was 77 years of age but always young in spirit. In her final days she was surrounded by the care and love of family and friends.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband Fred, her parents Ernie and Ivy Blackman, her brothers Charlie (Bev) and Bert.

She also cherished the memory of her Auntie Grace and Uncle Oliver and her in-laws Bob and Edith and Shirley Gering.

She is survived by her sister Doreen, sister-in-law Sherrill, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marilyn and Herb Springer, close cousins Dianne Miller and Dennis West as well as several nieces and nephews.

Shirley loved to gather with family and friends and loved to cook and bake and was celebrated especially for her butter tarts and cinnamon buns.

Fred and Shirley travelled the depth and breadth of Canada together as well as many places in the US including Alaska. They often took family and friends with them, creating wonderful memories for all.

Her spirit of fun and adventure will live on in our hearts.

We will miss them both.

A Funeral Service for both Fred and Shirley will take place on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 2:00 PM at St. Luke's Anglican Church, 130 Nassau St. N, Winnipeg, MB.

Shirley's family and friends would like to thank Dr. Miller and PA Daniel Quan of the HSC dialysis team for their ongoing support.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
