It is with deep sadness and love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Shirley Isabel James, at the age of 91 years on April 7, 2021.
As a young girl, Mom always looked forward to visiting her maternal grandmother and grandfather‘s farm near Fleming, Saskatchewan. In her teen years, Mom enjoyed sports, guitar lessons, and summer trips with friends to Grand Beach. It was at the Grand Beach Dance Hall that she met her future husband, Albert.
Shirley was predeceased by her mother and father, Eldora and Fred Cornes, and her beloved husband, Albert James (2004).
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Linda (Gord), her sons, Kenneth (Terry), Brian (Kerri), Ron (Carrie), and Darrell (Janet); her grandchildren, Daria, Denise, Michelle, Lindsay, Kevin, Larissa, Scott, John, Sherry, Shannon, and Michael; and her great- grandchildren, Shealene, Shyann, Sarah, Connor, Drewlyn, Ayla, Benjamin, Keaton, Catharine, Katelyn, Malcolm, Isabelle, Quinn, Brielle, Makayla, Norah, Jackson, Hayden, Lynelle, and Payton.
Shirley and Al spent the majority of their life in the St. Vital area, and made many longtime friends.
Mom always enjoyed her weekly bingo and whist games at Glenlee and Norberry Community Clubs and coffee gatherings with her neighbours on Berrydale Avenue, particularly May and Barb. In her later years, she enjoyed gambling trips and vacations with friends.
Family was very important to Mom. She loved all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren unconditionally.
She will be remembered for her positive and loving spirit. We love you Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma. Never forgotten, always remembered.
