Stan grew up in Winnipeg and graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1969 as an Electrical Engineer. He worked for 24 years at Ontario Hydro. In 1994, he returned to Winnipeg where he was employed by Centra Gas and Manitoba Hydro. Stan was an analytical “out of the box” thinker and was always looking for new ways to approach problems. He was a kind and gentle man with a great sense of humour. Stan was very active in community organizations such as Friendship Force Manitoba, Grands ’n' More, and the Leisure Cycling Group. He also initiated the PAL Pedallers cycle group. More recently, he enjoyed participating in the Corydon walking group. Stan loved nature and animals. He spent many hours helping Fay with their perennial flower beds and ponds.
Family was most important to Stan. He helped Stuart and Alison maintain their houses and in the process taught them both many valuable skills.
More recently Stan (Gramps) had the great joy of playing with and watching his four grandchildren grow and develop.
Stan was predeceased by his parents John Alexander and Roberta Violet. He will be lovingly remembered by his best friend and wife of 51 years Fay, his children Stuart Croall (Sherri), Alison Skopalek (Jiri), and grandchildren Tommy, Bennett, Simon and Frances. He will also be missed by his sisters Lorrie Pismenny of Winnipeg and Joanne Andrusiak (George) of Ottawa and by his nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
A private family gathering will be held.
Those who so desire may make a memorial donation to CancerCare Manitoba.
