

On April 28, 2025 with his family at his side, Stavros Hatzistamatakis passed away peacefully at the Calvary Place Personal Care Home to meet the Lord.
He was born on Mar 6, 1931 on the island of Chios, Greece and immigrated to Canada in 1963 where he joined his future wife to be, Dora. Soon after they married they went on to start a beautiful family together. He brought his cooking skills to various hotels in Winnipeg but his greatest achievement was in 1982 when opened and operated his own business in Fort Richmond (Little Mug Rest). He spent the next 20 years there until his retirement.
Stavros was also a member of the Greek Orthodox Church for over 60 years which he was very proud of.
He was predeceased by his father Nicolaos and mother Magdalene, brothers Zannis and Matheos as well as sister Smaro. Left to mourn are his wife of 62 years Dora, his sons Nick (Marlene), Tino and granddaughter Katarina who he adored very much.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at both the Victoria and Grace hospitals for their professional and compassionate care. We would also like to thank all the home care workers for their professional care. We would like to thank Calvary Place (PCH) staff for their outstanding care of dad in his final days. A special thanks to Dr Nadar Roman and staff for looking after all his medical needs throughout the years.
As well as a special thanks to Father Nikolaos Tambakis for his compassion and care. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday May 5, 2025 at the St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 2255 Grant Ave with Father Nikolaos Tambakis officiating. Interment to follow at Waverley Memorial Gardens. A luncheon to follow at the church.
